Halloweed Costumes! Strain-Based Ideas for the Holiday

Life is better with Halloween. Adults everywhere get to celebrate the spooky season by dressing up in whatever fun costumes they can dream up. For some festive cannabis fans, that means brainstorming a creative weed-themed costume that combines their love of the plant and their love of the holiday.

If you want to impress your fellow party-goers with a more clever costume than a joint, bong, or dressing up as a famous stoner, we’ve put together strain-specific adult Halloween costumes inspired by Strane’s line of flower, vape cartridges, and concentrates.

  1. Super Lemon Haze - Up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it....a strain? You won’t find Super Lemon Haze soaring through the clouds. But its buzzy, uplifting energy makes you feel like you could leap tall buildings in a single bound. This sweet, tart, and citrusy strain is also great social fuel for any parties you’re attending. Dress up in some superhero tights, put on a cape, and emblazon a “SLH” across your chest over a hand-drawn lemon. This strain is so popular, someone may guess your costume before your secret identity.

  2. LA Confidential - LA Confidential’s indica-dominant effects are known to include waves of gooey, couch-locking relaxation. You may want to pick a different strain to consume before your party, but it makes a great Halloween costume: a 1950’s, film-noir style LA detective. Pick out any matching drab suit with slacks, then add that iconic fedora. To call out the strain, put on a cannabis leaf tie. Or, if you’re under-cover, put a cannabis leaf on your fake police shield. Then flash that badge if you want to ask a partygoer-of-interest some questions.

  3. Jack The Ripper - This social strain’s exhilarating waves of euphoria can also cloud its user’s mind in a dense, spacy fog like the kind that rolls down dark London alleyways. As a cannabis-themed costume, Jack The Ripper’s worth taking a stab at. It just needs a couple tweaks to show that you’re not out to terrorize. Dress in a green suit and cloak rather than a black one. Carrying a fake knife is unavoidable with this costume (he wasn’t “Jack the Cloak-Wearer” after all), but a cannabis leaf on your top hat should signal to the other guests that you mean no harm.

  4. Strawberry Cough - The buzzy, mind-expansive effects of Strawberry Cough are great for getting lost in conversation or bopping from room to room with a smile on your face. In other words, a great party strain, and a great Halloween costume. To embody this social strain, you’ll need to procure a strawberry costume or make one yourself (bonus points if you get some big white gloves.) Then, when someone asks what you’re supposed to be, simply cover your mouth and cough. Carry around a joint to complete the look, but only if the hosts give the ok. You don’t want to end up in a jam.

  5. Pineapple Express - Bring some tropical summer vibes to your fall celebration with Pineapple Express. This strain’s long-lasting, energetic buzz never rains on anyone’s parade. You’ll need a Hawaiian shirt with some cannabis leaves on it, or a cannabis-leaf lei for this strain-specific Halloween costume. Complete the look with some board shorts, flip flops, and sunglasses. Carry a pineapple around so no one confuses you with that other classic tropical strain, Maui Wowie.

  6. Trainwreck - All aboard this sativa-dominant hybrid! Trainwreck’s clear-headed energy gets you firing on all cylinders and its warm, tingly body effects make for an extra pleasant ride. This party strain also makes a fun cannabis Halloween costume for those who enjoy special effects makeup. You’ll need some grey-striped engineer overalls and hat, as well as a blue button up shirt. Tear up your costume, then add some fake blood and bruises so you look like you’ve been in, well, a trainwreck. Give it that strain-specific spin with a cannabis-themed kerchief around your neck.

  7. Island Sweet Skunk - Tasting sweet and citrusy with some skunky undertones, this perky, mood-enhancing strain is a pre-, mid-, and post-party strain that mellows into a soft body buzz. For this costume, a bushy, striped tail and some black and white face paint will leave no doubt what animal you are. Throw on a cannabis leaf Hawaiian shirt or lei and you’ll be the one skunk that’s welcomed indoors.

When it comes to cannabis-themed Halloween costumes, you shouldn’t feel limited to joint costumes or famous stoners. Take some inspiration from Strane’s line of flower, vapes, or concentrates and let your imagination run wild. Or visit one of our Liberty dispensaries for a little “extra” inspiration.

Happy Halloween!
